EPISODE 72: Be A 21st Century Man: Reclaim Your Sexual Health And Wellbeing

Episode 72: Judson Brandeis, MD

For the men among my readers (and women with men they care about), let me ask you: When was the last time you thought of going to the doctor without having or feeling any symptom? And when did you actually go and show up at their office?

As a male doctor, sometimes, it can get frustrating that I meet men in their 50s, 60s, or even as early as 40s showing up at my office already out of gas and falling apart.

Different reasons: “There’s not enough time,” “Too much work,” “It’s just stress, it’s nothing.”

Let’s admit it: We don’t ask for help or we don’t think we need to get help until its way over the line. Especially when it comes to things that are usually perceived to be affecting our masculinity.

Thats’s literal toxic masculinity right there—the macho thinking getting in the way of you taking of yourself and asking for help.

That’s one of the reasons why I am building a community of men working to reach the thrive state. To inspire others that we can reclaim our health, including sexual health, and become the best version of ourselves.

We don’t have to reach a point of no return before it is right and acceptable for us to think about and do SELF-CARE.

This latest episode with a fellow crusader for men’s health, longevity and peak performance is giving us a treat: How to become the 21st century man—from the basic stuff to the latest technology in men’s sexual health and rejuvenation.

Dr. Judson Brandeis is a UCLA-trained urologist and National Director of Clinical Excellence for GAINSWave. He created and runs the SWEET Study, the largest study of Shockwave Therapy for ED ever performed, and is a national sexual medicine educator who has run weekend educational seminars all around the country.

This generous doctor and educator advises on building a partnership with your doctor and is now sharing his own stack of knowledge and experience along with other top doctors and practitioners in the field through his book, The 21st Century Man.

It is literally the cookbook of prevention and intervention in men’s health and wellbeing!

Voted as Top Urologist in the SF Bay Area by SF Magazine from 2014 to 2020, Dr. Brandeis’ practice now focuses on men’s sexual health and rejuvenation in his office in San Ramon.

Biggest Health Challenge for American Men: Learning How to Take Care of Themselves

09:14

Toxic masculinity can literally get you killed. Erection is a function of circulation. And problems with erection can light a bulb to warn you of potential circulation dysfunction.

11:24

Ways to reduce risks of premature death from cardiovascular disease: Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do drugs, don’t eat too much, exercise, get good sleep, stretch, meditate, and be good to other people. We know these, but we don’t do them. The KEY is do the things we already know we need to do.

13:10

Body Composition Scan compels guys to do something—they respond to numbers and get convinced that something’s off in them.

15:27

We tend to complicate things. Not all people are simple but the basic thing is calories in, calories out. High – protein, micronutrients, fiber; Low – carbs; healthy fats.

16:56

Why ED is more prominent now: Testosterone levels get lower because of the sedentary lifestyle. Blood flow starts in the heart and the two last places that the blood reaches are the toes and the penis. When blood flow stops going to the penis, it stops working.

Sexual Healing and Medicine

(1) Addressing the signal: Nitric oxide – is the messenger that opens up blood vessels. Nitrates turns into nitrites to help blood vessels. As you get older, you produce less nitric oxide. So you have to boost these in your body.

(2) Declogging the wipes: Using an intense wave of energy that doesn’t cause tissue damage but tricks the body into thinking that it does to generate stem cell production. PRP—isolating platelets and WBC from the rest of the blood and reinjecting them into the penis—with shockwave therapy promotes stem cell production.

28:50

Finding the right help: Going to the doctor is a partnership. Help your doctor by writing down your medical history and why you’re visiting the doctor. Make a list of questions and hand it to your doctor at the beginning to get the most out of your doctor’s appointment.
