EPISODE 73: Getting your dream job with habits and purpose

Episode 73: Wasim Hajjiri, MBA

Do you know that in America, roughly 70% of professionals are unhappy with their jobs?
And in January 2022 alone—in just about one month—4.5 million people quit their jobs.

Four and a half million!

Why is that so???

Pay is important. It gives you financial stability and a sense of security of course. But studies show that beyond the money, other thing are becoming more and more important for people. Like the culture of the company, being able to have a work-life balance, the people you work with.

If you hate your job, it also affects you physically. You know, as we always explain here on Thrive State—stress brings your cortisol up, lowers your immune system, and so on.

People used to take on jobs that are not aligned to them. We took jobs for the money—to pay the bills, eat, secure our family’s future. And recently, people have been discovering that with technology, you options are far better.

You are now able to align both: fulfilling your purpose and stability.

But we must admit and prep you, the process is not as sweet as it sounds.

Here’s Wasim Wajjiri, author of Fulfilled, founder and career coach at Wasim The Dream Job Coaching to walk us through that.

Because however tough it can get, as long as you keep the faith on to your WHY—plus a community who will understand, support and journey with you—you can definitely land that dream job and give your best to this world!

Finding your Alignment and Purpose: Go back to your childhood and ask yourself:

  • What excites you?
Remember the things that bring you joy and light you up and marry them with the things that also serve other people. It is not so much of a discovering process but a remembering process.
Having a morning routine is the most important thing in the world. We have so much going on in our heads and in the outside world. What you do in the morning sets the tone for the whole day. Meditation (breathing, gratitude), journaling, exercise.
Dr. V’s morning routine: Hydrate with 16oz of water with some Himalayan sea salt and lemon, write journal about intention and taks, meditate (breathing exercise), listen to a podcast and workout.
Cultivating self-love: Write 3 things you love about yourself. Start building self-love out of everything. Learn to love yourself no matter what.
Write the things you’re proud of. Write the things that you love about yourself. Write memories that make you proud.
Celebrate the small wins. Don’t wait for the big ones. Start recognizing them now consistently.
