EPISODE 11: The Medicine of Authenticity and Intuition

Episode 11: Charles Chen

We have a lot of insecurities as a person. I can’t think of anyone who’s not or someone who never reached a point in their life where they wish to change or hide something they don’t like about themselves.

It’s human nature, but since we feel insecure about our body, physical appearance, or probably with our personality, we lose sight of all our good qualities. This mindset says a lot about why many people try to be other people. It’s hard to show up in our own skin sometimes, and we lose our sense of authenticity. But despite that, we can outgrow it.

Listen to this episode with Charles Chen, and you will realize that trying to fit in the mold even harder to be accepted just robs your chances of improving. And that believing in yourself and intuition will take you where you belong.

Insecurities

Charles: “So just imagine I when I went to I was brought here I was super skinny. I was almost like teased for being too skinny. But then I went from the eastern diet into the Western diet. And unfortunately, my mom was a single mother and she was working a full time job. And I had to go to after school program, right next to the after school program was, you know, a McDonald’s and I ate junk food just every single day. I think it was a combination of just kind of going back to you, you your story of like, hiding behind the white lab coat for me. I was figuring out what my identity was like, Who am I in this world?”

Self Transformation

Charles: “ And when I was struggling what internally with my, my sexuality, was like, wow, this is the biggest hole. And this is the biggest thing that could cripple my life and the biggest fear I have. Yeah, if I can transform transmute this fear into empowerment, I’m unstoppable. And I was like, This is the only thing that I’m fearful of like, and then I dive deeper. I was like, why am I so I think like as a little kid, if you’re told by society or by media that you know, you’re not enough that you’re not good and what you’re a bad person.”

A pledge

Charles: “And I think it goes back to my story of like, I dedicated my life when I had that light bulb said I said if I were able to Chant transformed my life, I’m going to dedicate my life in some capacity to help others do the same. And it was always service based. It was always like, how can I help? Because my mom always ingrained in us, it’s like, you know, just serve people. And you’ll always be taken care of right? So I always had that in mind.”
